How to get along with your back

Sitting: Use a hard chair and put your spine up against it: try and keep one or both knees higher than your hips.  A small stool is helpful here. For short rest periods, a contour chair offers excellent support.

Standing: Try to stand with your lower back flat. When you work standing up, use a footrest to help relieve swayback. Never lean forward without bending your knees. Ladies take note: shoes with moderate heels strain the back less than those with high heels. Avoid platform shoes.

Sleeping: Sleep on a firm mattress: put a bedboard (3/4" plywood) under a soft mattress. Do not sleep on your stomach. If you sleep on your back, put a pillow under your knees. If you sleep on your side keep your legs bent at the knees and at the hips.

Driving: Get a hard seat for your automobile and sit close enough to the wheel while driving so that your legs are not fully extended when you work the pedals.

Lifting: Make sure you lift properly. Bend your knees and use your leg muscles to lift. Avoid sudden movements. Keep the load close to your body, and try not to lift anything heavy higher than your waist.

Working: Don't overwork yourself. If you can, change from one job to another before you feel fatigued. If you work at a desk all day, get up and move around whenever you get the chance.

Exercise: Get regular exercise (walking, swimming, etc.) once your backache is gone. But start slowly to give your muscles a chance to warm up and loosen before attempting anything strenuous.

See your doctor: If your back acts up, see your doctor; don't wait until your condition gets severe.

THREE ESSENTIAL THINGS FOR OVERALL GOOD HEALTH

After 29 years of practice, I have found the following three things to be extremely important and the basic foundation for good health.

1.  CHIROPRACTIC ADJUSTMENTS:

In Chiropractic, the "avenue of approach" is through the spine.  The adjustment works directly and indirectly on the body.  Directly when subluxations are reduced and pain is relieved.  Indirectly, through the Autonomic Nerves that, when stimulated by the adjustment, affects the glands, organs, digestion, and blood vessels, etc.

An extremely important study was done on 50 dissected cadaver spines.  The object was to determine wheather any connection existed between minor curves of the spine, on the one hand, and diseased organs on the other.

RESULTS:

.  50 cadaver spines were dissected that had at least one minor curve that was fixated and  ridged, apparently of long duration.

.  In the 50 cadavers, 139 diseased organs were found

.  All 139 diseased organs had autonomic nerves that were stretched and compromised by the spinal anomaly.

.  100% of the time, organ pathology was traced back to the spinal segments where there was curvature and fixations.

2.   EAT RIGHT FOR YOUR BLOOD TYPE:

Many of the enzyme systems that control our digestion are located on the same GENE as our blood type gene (9Q34).  When we inherit our blood type, these enzyme systems are transferred along with our blood type, on the same gene.

There are four blood types: O, A, B, & AB, , each having its own unique digestive enzyme genetics.  Therefore, if you are an O blood type you will feel better and be healthier if you eat certain foods and leave certain foods alone. The same with A, B, and AB.

Read the book; "EAT RIGHT FOR YOUR TYPE", by Dr. Peter J. D'Adamo for all the background.  The two most frequently reported benefits of eating right are improved digestion and weight loss!

3.  OMEGA 3 ESSENTIAL FATTY ACIDS:

Omega 3 is found in FISH OIL and flax seed oil.  Salmon is one of the best sources.  It has been found to be highly effective in preventing heart disease, stroke and other cardiovascular diseases.  It has been proven to also benefit the Immune System, Joints, and Brain function.  (ADD, ADHD, Bipolar Manic Depression, Aggression, Alzheimers, etc.)

The oil must be filtered or of a pharmaceutical grade so the mercury, cadmium, PCB, etc., have been eliminated.  This makes it more expensive but is very important.

Omega 3 fish oil has been shown to be 44% more effective in reducing death from cardiac events when compared to the Statin drugs (cholesterol reducing drugs), and also 32% more effective in reducing death from all reasons.  AND THEY HAVE NO SIDE EFFECTS! (Archives of Internal Medicine. April 11, 2005; pp 725-730)

These three things are basic to good health.  Have you and your children start now, the younger the better.
